The LEI code is a 20-character international identifier for the clear identification all over the world of legal entities (banks, issuers, listed companies, stock exchange traders, investment funds, etc.) participating in financial transactions.
Issuers approved (Local Operating Unit - LOU) by the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) are entitled to issue LEI codes. Until receiving GLEIF approval to issue LEI codes, KELER continuously assists market participants in accessing the LEI code without delay. To this end, KELER contracted WM Datenservice in Germany.
In order to remain valid, the LEI codes requested must be renewed annually. We inform Clients before the expiry of the LEI codes already managed by KELER to ensure the codes are renewed in time. It is possible to renew through KELER the LEI codes issued by other LOUs; in line with the mandate of the Client, KELER takes the necessary steps to renew the code.
Details of LEI code administration can be found below, in our Client Information under the Documents section.
